"The dumping is not only damaging environment in the green areas of Aravalli, but unhygienic surroundings is posing as a big threat," said a resident.

Residents of the area have lodged several complaints with the MCG commissioner, urging immediate action to do away with the unbearable smell. They stated the stench had made it difficult for them to venture out of their houses.

The MCG has hired a private contractor to dump animal carcasses and every day, at least four to five carcasses are brought on a trolley to the spot.

According to residents, MCG officials had assured them earlier that their grievances would be addressed at the earliest.

"For a long time now, carcasses are being dumped in the area. Foul stench starts emanating due to rotting flesh as the temperature drops. As the night progresses, the stink becomes unbearable. It's difficult to go out," said Sumeet Goswami, resident of DLF Phase I and active member of resident welfare association.

"I will talk to the contractor and make sure that the carcasses are dumped away from residential areas," he added.
