Following a report that a local Congress leader was trying to lure voters on Monday evening in Sathupally assembly constituency, a police party went there and cautioned against violation of code of conduct.

But the Congress workers did not pay heed, prompting the police to use force to disperse them. Upon learning about it, the firebrand Congress leader Chowdhary and Sattupally candidate Venkat Rao, son of former Chief Minister late Jalagam Vengal Rao, along with their supporters, went to Penuballi police station and had an argument with police.

In the meantime, some Congress workers ransacked the police station and broke the window panes.

The same night, police registered a case against Chawdhary, Rao and 65 other party activists under various sections of IPC for allegedly attacking the police station in Sathupally assembly constituency.
