Taslima's attackers, including three MLAs, are free on bail.

The Panjagutta police have registered the case against her on a complaint filed by MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi "under section 153(A) of IPC for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony."

The MLA alleged at the book release function in Hyderabad, that Taslima gave a speech critical of the Prophet and Islam and hurt the sentiments of Muslims.

But, Dr N Innaiah, noted writer and Taslima's host in the city called the allegation "blatantly false and baseless".

"There was no mention of Islam or Prophet in her speech. She confined herself to the novel

Shodh

whose Telugu translation she launched at the function."
