The much awaited score card of the Common Admission Test (CAT) was declared on Tuesday.

But most management aspirants are not too happy looking at their scores for individual sections. Reason being — scores for the verbal section turned out much lower than the quantitative section.

Lalita Sharma scored 88 marks in the verbal section as against 97 last year. The 23-year-old is extremely upset with her overall 98.5 percentile. About 1.91 lakh aspirants appeared for CAT this year.

Unexpectedly, the quantitative section turned out to be much simpler as compared to the verbal section. Director of the Triumphant Institute of Management Education (TIME), CAT training institute, A Srinivas agrees. “Till last year, students could easily score 40 out of 50 in the verbal section. But this year, the score could be around 50 out of 100. The verbal section was definitely much tougher.”

The question paper also threw up surprises. While the choice of questions increased to 5 from last year’s 4 questions, the marking system per question stood at 4 marks as against 1 or 2 marks in the previous years.
