But alas, we are part of the English-speaking elite that is conspiring against the level-playing field that the SP wants to enforce by a variety of means. First, it has wheeled out socialite Nafisa Ali, herself a product of La Martiniere school in Kolkata, to tell us not to go down that slippery slope of English education. As she so succinctly put it, her leader Mulayam, that arch angrezi-hater knows the power of English as he sent his sons to English-medium schools. We’ll be darned if we understood that.
Perhaps, Messrs Singh and Co. could also tell us how to compete in the global market by speaking in various tongues. We can quite see an interview with, say Microsoft, going quite well with the candidate babbling in Bhojpuri. Now the SP may tell us that their hatred is not just of the English language but all Western imports, including malls. Yes, Ms Ali is shocked that people actually roam the malls mumbling to themselves in English. We take it that never more will SP leaders take off to foreign climes for all international aviation communication is in English. Lest you are wondering why Amar Singh and other SP worthies embrace English, it’s only so they can subvert the system from within, silly.
