Caught on camera: National-level kabaddi player shot dead in Haryana

A national-level kabaddi player, identified only as Sukhvinder, was shot dead by two unidentified men in Haryana’s Rohtak district.

A national-level kabaddi player was shot dead by unidentified assailants when he was walking home from training on Tuesday evening in Rithal village of Haryana’s Rohtak district.

The murder of 24-year-old Sukhvinder Singh was caught on a CCTV camera at a house near the spot. The footage shows him walking and speaking on his mobile phone when two men on a scooter approached from the opposite direction and fired five bullets from close range.

The assailants checked the body before escaping. Sukhvinder was declared dead on arrival at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS).

Sukhvinder was fatally attacked close to the village school ground where he used to train regularly.

The SHO of Sadar police station, Vijay Singh, said an FIR was registered and the body returned to the family after autopsy. “We have collected the CCTV footage. Raids are on to nab the culprits.”
