But, hold on! The State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (SCDRC) is all set to cut your visits to a mouse click.

Well, that means a great relief. Just click the mouse and know the case details.
Yes, the Commission will soon go online by introducing a system of network that would tell the status of a case and date (cause list) when to appear before the court.

“The process will take some four to five months to complete,” says Commission president Justice Palok Basu.

The network would be made available in such a way that 12-crore consumers of Uttar Pradesh could gain access to it. The system would also furnish details about the pending cases in district consumer forums. Computers for the purpose have already been purchased and installation work is on.

On pendency, Justice Basu said the only way to solve the problem was by giving five additional benches, so as to facilitate fast disposal of cases.

The State Government has already provided demand for a separate building for the Commission appears to be taking shape with the State Government providing 8,000 square metre land in Gomti Nagar. “Funds are awaited,” said the president. Shortage of staff is another problem that has been plaguing the State Commission. It is noteworthy that not a single employee joined the commission in the last four years.

Justice M B Shah, Chairman of the National Consumer Dispute Resdressal Commission is on a visit to Uttar Pradesh for 3 days from August 10. The President of State Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum Justice Paloke Basu took up various issues that pertaining to the facelift upgradation of the commission, and would also discuss the current status of work in the forums and commission.
