A six-member team of the CBI, which flew in Hyderabad from New Delhi on Monday, has obtained all documents and records relating to the blast case from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the city police.

The CBI registered a case against unidentified people and approached city police for the evidence gathered so far.

The agency will conduct their investigation afresh. The team could visit the blast site on Wednesday.

The CBI team had met City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh and discussed the probe conducted thus far.

Nine people were killed in the blast during Friday prayers at the 17th century mosque near Charminar, the symbol of Hyderabad. Five more people were killed in police firing after the blast when protesters turned violent near the mosque.

The state government on May 24 had recommended to the centre to order a CBI probe into the blast. It has also ordered a judicial inquiry into the police firing.
