In a relief for former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, the CBI has closed its probe to prove his alleged involvement in the Rs 450 crore scam in the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) in the state when he was at the helm.

The agency, which had lodged a case in October 2011 to probe the alleged irregularities in the award of rural electrification contracts in 2008, could not gather evidence to substantiate the allegations, said a CBI source. It was alleged that a Koda aide, in connivance with the state power board officials, had played a role in the award of a Rs 450-crore contract to a firm.

“But we found no irregularity. So have filed a closure report in a Jharkhand court,” said the source. The FIR was based on the complaint of the then state government led by Arjun Munda. Abhishek Sharan
