CBI court awards punishment to ten

A CBI court awards rigorous imprisonment ranging from five to seven years to ten more former government officials in the fodder scam case.

Ten more former government officials were on Monday given rigorous imprisonment ranging from five to seven years, taking the total to 33 in the fodder scam in which Rs 1.47 crore was withdrawn fraudulently from Dumka treasury.

The special CBI court, which on June 13 had convicted 34 persons in the fodder scam, would deliver the quantum of punishment against the remaining one convict, former Dumka Commissioner Sripati Narai Dubey, on June 26.

Dubey was one of the 34 accused to be convicted by the court.

The court handed out seven years imprisonment to former regional director of the animal husbandry department Dr Shesh Muni Ram and former veterinary doctor Sitaram Singh. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10.7 lakh against Ram and Rs 11.95 lakh against Singh.

Veterinary doctors Shiv Narayan Mondal and Hamednra Nath Verma got six years prison term and a fine amount of Rs 5.1 lakh and Rs 4.3 lakh respectively.
