There seems to be trouble ahead for the Uttar Pradesh Police. After giving a clean chit to Dr Rajesh Talwar in the Aarushi and Hemraj murder case, the CBI may recommend action against UP Police officials who were earlier removed for the blunders in the investigation of the case.
The UP Police have faced a lot of criticism for its handling of the case and the case was handed over to the CBI. Chief Minister Mayawati had also ordered the removal of three top officers after some major blunders in the investigation. The police officers who could face the heat are the then IG Meerut Gurdarshan Singh, DIG Meerut PC Meena, SSP Noida A Satish Ganesh and SP city, Mahesh Mishra. The CBI may question them in the future, sources in the agency said.
The move, sources said, would be in reaction to the demand of Minister of Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhary who had said shifting the officers wasn’t enough.
This will be the third time the CBI will ask the state police to act tough on its officers. The CBI has earlier asked for action against UP police officers in the Madhumita Shukla murder case and the Nithari case. “The agency is in the process of sending a letter to the UP Police recommending action,” said a top source.
Sources said the agency also intends to question the officers on their decision to arrest Dr Rajesh Talwar and formally charge him with murder without proper grounds.
