The Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s decision to recommend CBI inquiry into sex and sleaze scandal involving Dr Kavita Rani of Meerut University may create political trouble for both Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in the state, as the leaders of both parties are allegedly involved in the scam.

However welcoming the chief minister’s decision, RLD general secretary and spokesman Anil Dubey said in Lucknow on Monday that impartial inquiry should be conducted in the case so that criminals belonging to any party could be punished.

Dubey said it would have no impact on the political fortune of the party during the assembly election as RLD chief Chaudhury Ajit Singh had already taken resignation from one of the accused minister Chaudhury Babulal.

He said RLD general secretary Dr Mairajuddin Ahmad whose name had cropped up in the scam had also resigned from the party. Anil Dubey said the party had already punished the two leaders by taking their resignations and now law should take its course. "We are not going to protect any body", he said.

While the CBI probe may create problem to Kiran Pal Singh, it may help the chief minister to come clean on the issue. Will Yadav re-nominate Kiran Pal for assembly election from Agota (Bulandshahr) constituency is being debated in the SP.

Kiran Pal had last week organized a public rally in Bulandshahr to take "clean chit" from the people.
