BANARAS HINDU University students have demanded CBI inquiry into the controversial death last year of a student Yogesh Rai, who, according to fresh reports, died because of medical negligence at Sir Sunderlal Hospital in BHU.

President of BHU unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and student at Law Faculty, Harishchandra Pandey, demanded setting up of a CBI inquiry into the mysterious death of Yogesh Rai at SS Hospital in BHU on January 11, 2005.
“Why is the BHU administration avoiding to release the findings of Harikesh Singh Committee report?’, he asked. He alleged that Yogesh Rai’s death is a clear cut case of medical negligence and stern action should be taken against all those responsible. He said that students of BHU would launch a massive agitation to expose the suppressive attitude of the BHU administration towards students.
Ajit Singh of Ksharta Kalyan Morcha also demanded CBI inquiry into Yogesh Rai’s death. “Only CBI inquiry could reveal the faces behind the death of Yogesh Rai and therefore we want setting up of this with immediate effect”, he added. He said that criminal cases should be lodged against all those responsible for the untimely demise of Yogesh.
Another student leader Bhuvaneshwar Dwivedi said that BHU administration had been violating students right as the students union was defunct for the last 10 years.
