Former hockey captain Pargat Singh on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the functioning of the Indian Hockey Federation and said the game's governing body should be "restructured" for the benefit of the sport.
Training guns at the IHF, the Olympian said a CBI inquiry would help in finding if selection process in the IHF was unbiased or otherwise.
"The CBI should summon all hockey players, who were part of Indian team for the last 12 years and assess whether all of them were included purely on the basis of their performance or some 'extraordinary' favour was extended to include them," Pargat Singh told PTI.
Singh also joined the chorus in demanding resignation of the IHF chief KPS Gill.
"IHF should be immediately dissolved and restructured for the benefit of the game, which has witnessed steep downfall during the present regime and now the time is ripe for KPS Gill to step down from the post of IHF President," he said.
On the sting operation showing IHF Secretary K Jothikumaran allegedly accepting bribe, he said, "It was not surprising as those who were keeping a close watch on the functioning of IHF closely, already knew that players were being included in the Indian team in a hanky-panky manner".

{{/usCountry}}Singh alleged that coaches never had a say in the selection matters under the current president.
"No coach was given any liberty to select the players accordingly to their performance and the same problem was faced by me also when I was appointed as Coach.
"Even, I got the list of selected players from the management, to which I objected and ultimately could not continue under the 'arbitrary' style of functioning of IHF," he said.
