CBI to begin fresh raids

The Central Bureau of Investigation would soon undertake searches across official and residential premises of persons who figured prominently in the agency's preliminary investigations into Commonwealth Games-related irregularities.

The Central Bureau of Investigation would soon undertake searches across official and residential premises of persons who figured prominently in the agency's preliminary investigations into Commonwealth Games-related irregularities.

The idea, said an agency source, was to take possession of "hard evidence" including documents and receipts.

“The proof of the irregularities lie in the documents that need to be gathered quickly, other wise they can be tampered with,” said the source.

The agency's anti-corruption units and the economic offences wing would be also involved in the exercise.

The CBI is probing 16 complaints regarding the alleged procedural irregularities and corruption by the Games organising committee.
