As more than 12 lakh students prepare for their annual Board examinations, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today announced a slew of measures, including a 15-minute ‘cool off’ time, to save students from suffering exam-related anxiety and stress.

The CBSE has also re-designed the question papers of seven subjects to allow the students to complete the three-hour question paper in only two-and-a-half hours.

The 'blueprint' of seven class XII papers — mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, business studies and accounts — has been redesigned. Similarly, for class X, science, mathematics and science question papers have been restructured.

For class X, the CBSE, for the first time, has introduced internal assessment in mathematics, restructured science practicals and revised assessment in science and technology.

"The CBSE is making all efforts to ensure that the Board examinations are as stress free as possible. We have decided to continue with the cool off time to bring near synchronisation between speed and accuracy," CBSE chairman Ganguly said.

While more than five lakh candidates will appear this year for the Class XII Board examination beginning on March 1, over seven lakh students have registered for the class X Board examination, commencing on March 2.
