The police said though their job became much easier because of the images captured in the CCTVs, tracing the accused turned out to be a task. The investigators had to use the services of at least 40 informers to reach their catch.

“Our network of informers helped us a lot in cracking the case,” said Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Warude of Juhu police station.

The police said the crime had happened on January 6 inside bus number 33, which was going to Opera House from Goregaon.

The accused had snatched the bag of a mobile phone shop employee.

Warude, the investigating official in the case said the gang adopted a unique modus operandi in which everything was kept a secret. They never disclosed their original name and area of residence even to their accomplices. “They were very professional in their approach and never trusted each other,” said Senior Inspector Deepak Katkade.
