The police said cameras were being installed in the sensitive areas of the cities, in consultation with special superintendents of police and inspector-generals of police there.
A senior police official handling the job said on condition of anonymity:
“These are being installed to keep track of movements of people in sensitive areas. They could be immensely useful if there are terrorist attacks.”
