Ceasework extended to July 31

The Amarnath shrine board and pressing for the removal of Govenror N N Vohra, on Tuesday extended the shutdown in the region till July 31.

The Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti, which is spearheading the agitation against revocation of the order transferring land to the Amarnath shrine board and pressing for the removal of Govenror N N Vohra, on Tuesday extended the shutdown in the region till July 31.

"The executive committee meeting has unanimously decided to extend the bandh by 72 hours till July 31. All organisations including traders, business and transport associations have extended full support to the bandh," Samiti convenor Leela Karan Sharma said.

Pilgrims to Amarnath, Vaishnodevi and Budha Amarnath have been exempted from the purview of the bandh, Sharma said, adding hotel associations have promised to provide the yatris with free food and tea and lodging at nominal rates.
