Central team to assess rain loss in HP

The central team led by Veena Kumari Meena, joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs, would assess damages caused by heavy rain in the state, said Pratibha.

“The team will consist of representatives from agriculture, finance, planning commission, road, transport and highway and the rural development departments. A state government official will assist the team,” she added.

Apprising Shinde about massive loss of life and property in the state, Pratibha said the intensity of flashfloods in the state was similar to that of Uttarakhand.

“The state has gone a year back in terms of development due to the flashfloods and the tourism sector has been affected badly,” Pratibha said, adding that massive investment was required to bring complete normalcy in the region.
“The tourist season in the state was on its peak when the floods occurred. The tourism industry plays an important role in the state's economy,” she added.

Due to the rescue efforts launched by the state government all trapped tourists were rescued successfully without any loss of life, Shinde added.
