The Tamil Nadu Director General of Police had also received such an alert and security was being beefed up in all crowded places in the city, Police Commissioner Nanjil Kumaran told reporters in Chennai on Monday.

He said the alert was not specific to Chennai. "However all lodges, market places and other crowded areas are being provided additional security," he said.
