Centre has constituted a Task Force to formulate a special programme for the desert districts of Rajasthan.
The 'Maru Gochar Yojana' will provide for rehabilitation of traditional pastures, facilitate restoration of traditional water courses and implement other measures for effective drought proofing, official sources said today.
The terms of reference of the Task Force, which shall be for a period of three years, include identification of the project area, activities, time frame and budget, besides implementation of the programme and its monitoring.
The Task Force, headed by SJP leader Kamal Morarka, has been constituted in pursuance of the announcement made by the Finance Minister in his 2003-04 Budget speech. The Joint Secretary in the Department of Land Resources in the Rural Development Ministry will be the Member Secretary.
