Centre okays Rs 50 cr for gas victims
THE UNION Cabinet at its meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday sanctioned an additional Rs 50 crore to meet the shortfall in ongoing disbursement of pro rata compensation to Bhopal gas victims in the ratio of 1:1 as directed by the Supreme Court.

THE UNION Cabinet at its meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday sanctioned an additional Rs 50 crore to meet the shortfall in ongoing disbursement of pro rata compensation to Bhopal gas victims in the ratio of 1:1 as directed by the Supreme Court.
Briefing newspersons here Defence Minister Pranab Mukerjee said the Supreme Court in its judgement dated July 19, 2004 and October 26, 2004 had directed to disburse the same amount to gas victims as pro-rata additional compensation as original compensation awarded to them.
The Union Cabinet today granted Rs 50 crores to meet the shortfall in balance compensation amount available with the Welfare Commissioner for disbursement of pro-rata compensation.
