Briefing newspersons here Defence Minister Pranab Mukerjee said the Supreme Court in its judgement dated July 19, 2004 and October 26, 2004 had directed to disburse the same amount to gas victims as pro-rata additional compensation as original compensation awarded to them.
The Union Cabinet today granted Rs 50 crores to meet the shortfall in balance compensation amount available with the Welfare Commissioner for disbursement of pro-rata compensation.
