"I told the prime minister that the Centre should see that the project comes through," Patnaik, who returned here after meeting the prime minister in New Delhi on Thursday, told reporters.

"Everybody is interested in the project," he said.

Asked whether he would hold talks with people who are against setting up of the Posco project near Paradip, on the lines of his meeting with protestors in Kalinga Nagar, Patnaik, he said the district administration was talking to them

"I am always open for talks to defuse any tension to see that the project progresses. As chief minister, I want more progress and prosperity for the state," he said.

"I will examine the proposal," Patnaik said when he was asked whether he would convene an all-party meeting to discuss the matter.

The administration is dealing with people facing displacement to ensure they are appropriately rehabilitated. The state's resettlement and rehabilitation policy is one of the best in the country, he asserted.
