ONLY IF Centre and State Governments ensure that constitutional rights available to minorities are granted to them and schemes meant for them fairly implemented, Muslims would not need any reservation.
This was the main outcome at the State-level meeting of the working committee of the MP Muslim Vikas Parishad held at Budhwara on Sunday.
“Reservation instills inferiority complex,” said president of the MPMVP Mohammad Mahir at a meet that was attended by almost 150 members of organisations including several women.
Resolutions that were passed at the meeting would be forwarded to the President, Prime Minister, Governor, Chief Minister and political parties.
Amongst the resolutions that were okayed include the demand for keeping at least one member of minority committee in the selection panel wherever five or more vacancies were to be filled, provision for one Urdu teacher in all private recognised schools in Madhya Pradesh, filling the posts of Urdu lecturers meant for Schedule Caste/Scheduled Tribe at the earliest, financial support to Urdu writers, poets and journalists and allocation of land for cultural functions of Muslims.
The other demands were that prosecutors and notaries from the minority community should be appointed, casteist and communal remark should be prohibited in FIR made to police, schemes for welfare of Muslims should be reviewed annually, Muslim member should be kept in the district-level committees meant for minorities’ welfare et al.

{{/usCountry}}The problems of Muslim community in the State were discussed at length. The MPMVP termed the Bharatiya Janata Party’ s (BJP) slogan of appeasement of Muslims as anti-national citing the backwardness of Muslims who have reached the bottom of social ladder in the last five decades.
The delegates from Gwalior, Chhindwara, Neemuch, Indore, Mandla, Jabalpur, Sagar, Shivpuri, Mandsaur, Balaghat, Katni, Shahdol, Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, Dhamtari, Morena, Ujjain and other districts participated in the meet.
