Under pressure from protesting traders and the Opposition over the sealing crisis, the Centre is expected to come out with Delhi's new master plan by the end of January next year.
Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy has told the consultative committee attached to his ministry that the government will try to expedite the process of finalisation of the 2021 Delhi Master Plan by the end of January.
Traders and Opposition leaders protesting the court-ordered sealing drive have been demanding that the government come out immediately with the new master plan incorporating its liberal mixed-land use notifications.
During the meeting on October 30, Reddy also told the committee that the Centre has set aside Rs 400 crore as pooled finance development fund for municipalities to help them access capital markets.
Also, the minister said he would interact with chief ministers for more effective implementation of projects under the national capital region planning board.

{{/usCountry}}Reddy also spoke about the Centre's clearance to plans for extension of metro to Gurgaon and to the first corridor of the Mumbai metro rail project. The Centre will bear 20 per cent of the project cost in the form of viability gap funding.
MPs who attended the meeting included Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler, Swadesh Chakraborty, V Radhakrishnan and Pannian Ravindran.
