He was speaking to mediapersons after holding a review meeting of 13 districts falling under Kanpur zone here in Kanpur on Sunday. The districts are Kanpur Nagar and Dehat, Fatehpur, Kannauj, Auraiya, Etawah, Mainpuri, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Ferozabad, Hathras and Etah.

The DGP also said that there was no political pressure on the police force in dealing with law and order in the State. He said in the last three days alone 30,000 criminals had been sent to jails across the State as part of a two-month-long campaign launched by the police department to curb crime in the State.

Bua Singh said, “The department has done a commendable job in arresting several criminals and Sub-Inspector RB Singh posted in Badayun became a martyrdom. The department would make available Rs 10 lakh to his kin as ex gratia.”

Coming down heavily on cops who failed to deliver results, the DGP said, “Incompetent police officers must improve upon their working or be ready to face the music.”

Bua Singh said the police were working on a 10-point strategy to improve upon the crime scenario in the State. He said all wanted criminals would be dealt with firmly, noose would be tightened around criminals carrying rewards.
“The gangs involved in abduction for ransom would be eliminated soon and those involved in land grabbing would be sent to jail,” the DGP said adding that the police would work strategically to eliminate criminals involved in road hold-ups and listed dacoits.

Commenting on the increasing number of murders of truck drivers for looting trucks Bua Singh said, “We have finalised a strategy to bring down the incidents of truck looting and killing of truck drivers. At the same time, we are concentrating on contract killers and other mafiosi.”
