Chamber expresses concern over flood situation

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, has expressed its serious concern over rains and floods in the state in which several people have lost their lives and thousands have been rendered homeless.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, has expressed its serious concern over rains and floods in the state in which several people have lost their lives and thousands have been rendered homeless.

In a meeting held on Monday under the presidentship of Rakesh Gupta, the chamber appreciated the efforts of the Prime Minister and the home minister who recently visited the flood affected areas of the state and announced central assistance of Rs 2,100 crore for the relief and rehabilitation of the displaced families.

The chamber also appreciated the efforts made by the local administration. It also hailed the chief minister for personal intervention and the security forces for immediate rescue operations in the entire state.

The chamber appealed to all the associations in general and public in particular to come forward to distribute food and other items of daily needs among the displaced families.

It expressed its concern over the losses occurred to the industrial units at Gangyal and Tope Sherkhania due to recent flash floods. It appealed the authorities to assess the losses suffered by the units.
