Champions Trophy opener: India vs Eng

India will take on England in their opening match on October 15 at Jaipur in the ICC Champions Trophy to be played later this year.

India and England have been drawn in Group A that also features three-time World Champions Australia and a qualifier.

Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand and another qualifying team form Group B.

Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will start the tournament by contesting a preliminary round-robin format commencing October 7 at Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmdedabad and Mohali.

Two best teams from the preliminary rounds will go through to the second stage where they will be joined by the top six sides from the ICC ODI championship table dived into two groups.

The rankings were taken as on April 1, 2006. All matches would be day-night affairs.

The two semifinals would be played at Mohali and Jaipur on November 1 and 2 respectively, and the final will be played at Mumbai on Nov 5.
