Controversial godman Chandraswami has been in the news for two reasons this year. Notorious gangster Babloo Srivastav also linked his to the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. CBI had earlier moved an application opposing Chandraswami's plea seeking permission to go abroad claiming it had "lots of evidence" against him in the Gandhi assassination case.
He had some good news hoewever when a Delhi court acquitted him in the St Kitts forgery case, which had dogged him for nearly a decade and a half. he had maintained that he had been falsely implicated in the case due to his proximity to former prime ministers, Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao.
