"As far as our knowledge goes, there is no clarity on whether Natwar Singh has got money or committed any sort of corruption in the deal," he told reporters on the sidelines of a hunger strike by Anganwadi workers in New Delhi.

"The allegation against him was that he got money and is involved in the corruption in the deal. Since those allegations could not be proved, according to law there are no charges against him," he said.

The CPI(M) Politburo member said it was upto the Congress Party to decide whether any action must be taken against the former minister.

Regarding the charge about Singh misusing his position in the deal, he said, "It is upto the Congress to decide about any further action since he was a Congress office-bearer at the time of the deal."
