On the night of December 5, Uber cabbie Shiv Kumar Yadav was already looking for a potential prey when he received an alert on his iPhone about a woman passenger who had to be dropped to Inderlok, police sources said.
In less than 10 minutes, Yadav reached the destination where his passenger was waiting. Yadav was happy when he saw the 25-year-old financial analyst boarding his taxi.
Knowing that she would be physically weaker than him, Yadav planned his crime. He took a longer route to reach Inderlok from Vasant Vihar to execute his evil plans, an investigator said.
Yadav’s interrogation revealed that he took his desired route soon after he saw the woman passenger sleeping on the rear seat of his taxi. He started staring at her from the inner rear view mirror of the vehicle.
Since the woman was sleeping in his taxi, Yadav presumed she was under the influence of alcohol. Trusting his past experience when he had allegedly raped inebriated women who were too intoxicated to resist his advances, Yadav planned to repeat his crime.
“Yadav parked his vehicle at an isolated place near Najafgarh drain and went to the rear seat where the woman was sleeping. Without any fear, Yadav began molesting the woman and she suddenly woke up. When she resisted his act, Yadav offered her money. As she screamed for help, Yadav threatened to kill her and insert an iron rod into her private parts if she raised any alarm,” said the officer.

{{/usCountry}}Tihar jail officials told HT that Yadav had been under constant vigil and there was nothing unusual in his behaviour. “He is taking his food properly and is often seen interacting with other inmates. His routine medical examination was done and all his reports were normal,” said a senior jail official.
The north Delhi police probing the rape case and two other cases related to it have planned to submit the chargesheet by December 26. Investigators told HT that they were waiting for the forensic examination report from FSL — a crucial piece of evidence against Yadav.
Investigators believe Yadav had washed his taxi before abandoning it in Mathura. Several important evidence would be destroyed if he had washed his vehicle, said the officer. “The medical reports will be corroborated with other evidence collected against Yadav. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure the maximum punishment for Yadav,” said Brijender Kumar Yadav, additional DCP (north).
