The chargesheet has given a detailed account of how her body was burnt and the remains dumped in the Narmada.

“We have got a taped conversation of NK Amin and NV Chauhan at Sabarmati prison, in which Amin narrates how the minister had ordered the killing of Kauserbi in order to eliminate a key eye witness after bumping off Sohrabuddin in a staged shooting,” a CBI official said.

In the chargesheet, the agency has annexed the conversation recorded by Chauhan in a digital recorder in the jail. Chauhan and Amin, both accused in the murders of Sohrabuddin and Kauserbi, are in jail.

As per the chargesheet, Kauserbi’s body was taken to Illol, the north Gujarat village of IPS DG Vanzara, where her funeral was conducted.

“After the body was burnt, water was brought to cool it and Vanzara instructed Chauhan to collect the bones and ashes in a gunny bag, which was dumped in the Narmada near Bharuch in south Gujarat,” the agency said.

“In the first chargesheet, we have not specified the cause and mode of death because that is still under investigation and some witnesses’ statements are to be recorded,” a CBI official said.

Chauhan had said during interrogation by the CBI that Shah was anxious about Kauserbi and asked Vanzara to eliminate her immediately.
