The chargesheet in the sex scandal, that came to light in Akola in Feburary and in which names of some local policemen and government officials have figured, has been filed in a court in Akola, CID sources said on Saturday.
The 641-page chargesheet against 16 accused was filed on Friday in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate by Investigating Officer Vasant Pardesi, Superintendent of Police, CID.
The accused in the scandal, in which the victim is a teenaged city girl, had been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, Indecent Representation of Woman (Prevention) Act and Motor Vehicles Act among others.
A 28-year-old woman, Neetu alias Nita Vishal Takwat, is the main accused in the scandal which came to limelight three months ago when the victim claimed before media that she was sexually exploited by some persons, including policemen and govenment functionaries, for nearly six months.
CID, which probed the case after a public outcry, was likely to file a supplementary chargehseet against two other accused - dismissed Head Constables Jagdish Deshmukh and Vijay Aswan - on May 17, the sources said.
Special prosecutor Ganesh Pathak, Police Inspector Sanjay Pardesi and five dismissed police constables have been named as absconding accused.
