"The same builders on whom aspersions were cast during the extensive debate on development of Mumbai's slums in the Legislative Assembly, have wished Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray through newspaper advertisements on his birthday today," he said.

Replying to the six-hour debate in the Lower House, Chavan said it was unfair to level allegations of corruption on any development work.

"No doubt, real estate prices in Mumbai are costlier than gold. But, the land on which slums are situated have no value," he said.

"A developer will come forward to take up any development activity on this land only if he is assured of reasonable profits and I see no harm in it," Chavan said.

He said the development works are going on in a transparent manner, adding that lacuna if any would be rectified if brought to notice.

The Chief Minister said more than 35 builders have greeted Uddhav Thackeray on his birthday today through newspaper advertisements in the Shiv Sena mouth piece Saamna.
