Under attack from party rivals over loss of an Assembly bye-election, Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Amar Agrawal on Wednesday resigned from the Raman Singh ministry.

Agrawal submitted his resignation to state BJP organising secretary Ram Pratap Singh, sources said in Raipur.

When contacted, Chief Minsiter's office said, "they have not yet received" the resignation letter.
Party sources said the resignation was a fall-out of the defeat the party suffered at the hands of Congress in the recently held Kota Assembly by-election.
Agrawal was the party's in-charge for the bypoll, which the BJP lost to Congress candidate Renu Jogi, wife of former chief minister Ajit Jogi, by over 21,000 votes.
