Aqua-hued patterns in fluid prints may not give you the sensation of cool water splashing over your body. But there are refreshing prints to sport this season.

You can lounge in a pair of shorts and a Tee all day but when it comes to dressing up for a party, April-May do pose a problem. Here are some options that will help you feel cool even as they make you look hot.

Asymmetrical lines in bright colours work well on a halter dress with a high waist. Short dresses are fine for day wear.

Try spaghetti straps, halters, tube tops and off shoulder straps as they leave you feeling cooler. Take care to keep out of the direct sun and always apply a sunscreen.

Trapeze skirts with free falling hems are a safe bet to beat the heat in style. They give a breezy feel and are ideal to wear at crowded venues. For example, a quaint animal print dress in green with a corsage at the ruched bosom is light in colour and fabric and ideal for evening wear.

Accesorise it with a modestly sized metallic hand bag and team it with pink patent leather stilettos.

Just as dresses seem to be the best option to brave through a summery day, shoes that expose your feet are a great accompaniment. They allow your feet to breathe and up the style quotient of any ensemble.

Metallic shades are in with both bags and shoes. You can team them with outfits in varied colours.

As for accessories, go for hoops and light jewellery.
