District administration in Jharkhand's Pakur district on Wednesday banned the import of chicken from West Bengal following bird flu alert in the neighbouring state.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Sharma said three teams were constituted to visit Rahaspur, Ilami, Manikrampur, Nawada, Sangrampur, Randanga, Anjana and other places to take stock of the situation as Pakur borders West Bengal's Birbhum district, where culling of affected chicken began on Wednesday.

The teams include doctors and support staff, he said, added, there was no report of bird flu anywhere in the district.
