Takes disciplinary action against others
CHIEF SECRETARY Naveen Chand Bajpai suspended the Public Works Department assistant engineer Ved Narain during an inspection of the Ardh Kumbh mela preparations here today.
The CS also ordered disciplinary action against junior engineer SN Yadav and issued warning to executive engineer RB Ram and senior engineer Sushil Kumar of the same department for their alleged acts of omission and commission in the on going work in the Ardh Kumbh mela scheduled to begin from January 3. He also ordered adverse entry to chief engineer Allahabad Nagar Nigam RK Varma.
The chief secretary, who did not appear happy with the pace of work being carried out by different departments during the inspection, extended the deadline for completion of all work from December 15 to December 18.
He, however, expressed hope that the departments would complete the tasks, which had been assigned to them.
The CS said that he would make another visit to review the progress of the work. He said that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav would also make a visit to take stock of the work carried out to receive a large gathering during Ardh Kumbh.
On being asked about threat perception and the arrangements to tackle the same, Bajpai said that no terror if any by any outfit, would be revealed. However, foolproof arrangements to rebuff any threat to the security had been made, he added.
