Two young siblings, who were allegedly subjected to torture by their father, have been adopted by a Kochi-based voluntary organisation.

Daniel (9) and his sister Daniea (7) were handed over to 'Janaseva Shishu Bhavan' in the presence of State Women Commission Chairperson Justice D Sreedevi after they refused to go along with their father on Tuesday.
The incident came to light after Daniel was admitted to a hospital last Saturday with injuries allegedly inflicted by his father.
The boy said his father Michael, a fisherman, tied him up to a coconut tree and inflicted knife injuries on his buttock, enraged over his bundle of beedis missing when he came home under the influence of liquor a few days back.
He said his father used to beat Daniea also.
Their mother is in the Middle East to work as a house maid few months back and they have been under the care of their grandmother since then.
