China, Pakistan sign free trade pact

Officials have said the pact could triple bilateral trade to 15 billion dollars within five years.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Pakistani counterpart Pervez Musharraf on Friday oversaw the signing of a free trade agreement between the two allies, officials said.

Officials have said the pact could triple bilateral trade to 15 billion dollars within five years.

Hu and Musharraf stood behind the ministers of commerce of their respective countries as they signed the accord and a series of other agreements including a separate five-year development programme.
