A delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) is expected to visit New Delhi next week.
The six-member delegation, led by a member of the CPC’s Central Committee, comprises Party members and research scholars from the Party’s international department.
The delegation, which is coming on the invitation of the CPI, would reach the Capital on November 7. "The same day, they are meeting the senior leadership of CPI to discuss developments in the country. The CPC delegation would also discuss party development strategies as well,’’ says CPI secretary, D Raja.
The visit also assumes significance as the Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to India on November 20. Last year, a CPC delegation that had been invited by the Indian Government, had met with former external affairs minister, Natwar Singh, urban development minister, Jaipal Reddy and CPI (M) general secretary, Prakash Karat.
The next day, the delegation would meet members of the CPI Parliamentary party. "Subsequently, in the afternoon a meeting with the CPI (M) leadership is being set up. On November 9, we are also trying to arrange a meeting of the delegation with Congress party members,’’ Raja said.
On November 10, the delegation will fly to Thiruvananthapuram to meet the CPI leadership in Kerala. "An interaction of the delegation with chief minister, VS Achuthanandan, is also being worked out,’" Raja said.

{{/usCountry}}After meeting the CPI leadership and possibly the chief minister, CPC members are slated to visit villages around Thiruvananthapuram.
"They are interested to get a glimpse of the kind of developmental work that is going on in the villages. They are keen to see how agricultural cooperatives work in India and also the status of women workers,’’ Raja said. The same night, the delegation leaves for Singapore.
