China to help build Nepal Ayurveda centre

China has pledged to provide $5.25 million to Nepal to set up a national Ayurveda research centre in Kirtipur.

China has pledged to provide $5.25 million to Nepal to set up a national Ayurveda research centre, the first of its kind to be established in the Himalayan nation.

The Centre is being established with the objectives of carrying out research and studies on various aspects of traditional Ayurveda, according to the National News Agency (NSS).

Various training programmes related to Ayurveda would be carried out under the project. A community Ayurvedic hospital would also be established as part of the proposed research centre.

Three separate buildings for medical, research and training purposes are to be constructed in around 54,760 sq ft of land in the premises of Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur.
