The East China Architecture and Design Institute (ECADI) — the brain behind modern Shanghai — has shown interest in designing HUDA’s dream project — Golden Triangle in Sector 29 in Gurgaon.
ECADI representatives, along with an Indian firm, have made a presentation before a committee headed by the Haryana Chief Minister recently.
With Times Square of New York and Commercial Street of UK in mind, the Town & Country Planning department of Haryana has conceptualized a similar model, going by the name of Golden Triangle, in 380 acres of City Centre in Gurgaon.
"Four consortium companies had responded to our expression of Interest and ECADI, along with India based Fairwood Consultants, was one of the four. The presentation made by ECADI prima facie looked an attractive one and following our conceptual plannings. However, we are still to take the stock of the other presentations, but will decide on one of them in a short span of time," SS Dhillon, Director, Town & Country Planning (DTCP) told HT.
Dhillon said that ECADI was a reputed architectural and design organization which had designed a major part in the planning of Shanghai, about 700 towers.

{{/usCountry}}"As per our requirements, namely the Golden Triangle should not be a concrete structure alone, ECADI has suggested that 300 out of the total 380 acres to be kept green to maintain an ecological viability in the project. With just 80 acres to be developed as a commercial centre," Dhillon said.
Dhillon, however, refused to divulge more information on the body of the presentation made by ECADI. He said that the decision of awarding a contract was a time-taking procedure, since the process would require the companies to submit financial bids after they have been passed.
According to HUDA-administrator S.P. Gupta, the Golden Triangle would have world class entertainment, retail and business facilities such as malls, multiplexes, hotels, state-of-the-art commercial and office complexes.
Dhillon said that though the department had models like Times Square of New York and Commercial Street of UK in mind, much would depend on the designs and concepts submitted by private sector designers and planners.
ECADI, which has designed the world famous Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai among others and also some famous structures in Hong Kong, has a force of about 1000 architects and civil designers.
