The Sahar police have registered a case against Abhishek Awasthi (32), former boyfriend of item girl Rakhi Sawant, for assaulting a woman in a drunken state at a party at The Leela hotel in Andheri (East) late on Saturday night.
The police said Awasthi, a choreographer and dancer, was absconding.
GR Chopra (24) who works as a commercial pilot and is a model, has said in her complaint that the incident occurred at Bling nightclub inside the hotel after midnight. Chopra allegedly had a “minor brawl” with a woman customer in the club, when Awasthi “unnecessarily” intervened. “Awasthi was drunk. He not only verbally abused my friend, but also assaulted her,” said Advocate Devraj Gore, Chopra’s friend who had accompanied her to the club.
Security guards of the club forced Awasthi out. “Once we trace him, we will take his statement also. Action will be taken after that,” said Police Sub-Inspector A. Kathane. Hindustan Times tried contacting Awasthi on his cellphone but he was not reachable.
