“Instead of appreciating the State Government’s scheme launched as one of the measures to empower women, Vyas has run down the scheme,” he said while talking to newspersons after attending a meeting of the members of Parliament of his state here Wednesday night. Vyas should have got full details of the scheme before running down the scheme, he said.

Vyas’ reported had remarked that greedy people would let expectant mothers die during child birth rather than take them to hospital so that they could get Rs 50,000 as compensation.

Chouhan said the scheme provides for payment of compensation in case of deaths during childbirth in hospital, not at home. “The people in Madhya Pradesh are not so cruel and inhuman as to let their women die during child birth just to get compensation,” he said.
