CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan today discounted any possibility of the Uma factor impinging on the outcome of the by-election in Budni, the Assembly seat he has chosen for being elected to the Vidhan Sabha.
“There will be only one issue, development,” said Chauhan when asked whether his chances could be harmed if the Sadhvi campaigned against him.
Addressing scribes at a press meet, the Chief Minister declared that in his regime the emphasis would shift from ‘Garibi Hatao’ (eradicate poverty) to ‘Ameeri Badhao’ (increase affluence).
To this end the government has decided to form a Kisan Kalyan Ayog (Farmers’ Welfare Commission) to ensure that agriculturists were adequately recompensed for their efforts and get a good price for their produce.
Chouhan further announced that a special scheme would be started to provide fiscal assistance for marriage of destitute and impoverished young girls. The Chief Minister asserted that the BJP had performed commendably on all three counts of Bijli, Sadak and Paani since coming to power.
“An additional 1365 mw power was generated this year and the figure will be hiked to 2400 mw next year. An outlay of Rs 1,900 crore has been made for irrigation while Rs 900 and Rs 1400 crore have been allocated for power and roads respectively,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}Stressing the importance of good road infrastructure Chouhan announced that 12,000 kilometres of roads had been laid during the last two years and added that another 40,000 kilometres would be laid over the coming three years.
