THE CITY buses have finally started moving on roads albeit without any formal inauguration.

The Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) on Friday morning launched the city bus service between Teliarganj and Allahabad Junction Railway Station ( city side) on an experimental basis.
Six buses have been launched on this route with an interval of 20 minutes.
Significantly, UPSRTC Lucknow headquarters have given clearance for running 30 buses in the city in the first phase. All routes, bus numbers, stoppages , fare and facilities to senior citizens and students have been finalised by the UPSRTC.
UPSRTC Regional Manager J M Sinha told HT Allahabad Live on Friday that they waited for the appointment of Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal for launching the city bus service. But because of his busy schedule he did not come today.
However the formal inauguration would take place whenever he visited the city, said Sinha.
"In the first phase 30 buses will ply on roads . We have deployed three buses at Teliarganj terminal and the equal number of buses at Allahabad Junction Railway station on route no 44 today. In coming days buses on other routes including route No 11 from Kutchery to Mewalal Ki Bagia, route No 22 Kutchery to ADA Colony gate Jhalwa, route No 33 from Allahabad Junction Railway station to Trivenipuram Jhusi and route No 55 from Parade Ground to Dhoomanganj would be started by UPSRTC. All six buses between Teliarganj and Allahabad Junction Railway station are of mini types", said Sinha.
These buses at an interval of 20 minutes will ply on the roads from 5 am to 8.40 pm daily. On each route there are around 12 to 15 stoppages. Fare will range from Rs 3 to Rs 15 depending on the distance. Senior citizens and students have been given concession facility in monthly season tickets, said Sinha. He said that drivers and conductors deployed in the city buses are both regular as well as on contract basis.
