Taking heed of intelligence inputs, the city police on Sunday issued fresh lists of dos and don'ts to major
garba
organisers.
While Joint commissioner of Police (law and order) KL Prasad refused to elaborate on the new set of instructions to
garba
mandals, he said there would be "increased surveillance" till the festivities end.
Apart from the mandals, security at the temples, where people offer prayers before participating in
dandiya
, will also be increased. This is also being done in view of last week's terror attack at the Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargha in Ajmer.
"A similar tight security cover has been extended to the Haji Ali Dargha, Mahim Dargha and other religious sites belonging to various communities in the city," Prasad said. He, however, refused to elaborate on the manpower involved, only saying it was at the "optimum level".
Random checking of people and thorough checking of bags and other belongings at
dandiya
venues was on, Prasad said. Besides installing closed circuit cameras, the police have also roped in volunteers for assistance.
Organisers have been urged to allow the visitors with tickets only after checking their identity.

Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across the city without any untoward incident, Prasad said.
