Even though 75% of the population depends on public transport, the administration has failed to provide them with adequate transport facilities so far.
There is no proper bus service and people are being forced to travel by auto-rickshaws and cabs to reach their destinations, which turns out to be a costly affair.
A survey conducted by Hindustan Times revealed that nearly 83% residents had complained of poor transport facilities in the Millennium City.
Due to this, commuters are left with no option other than to share crowded autos, buses and other means of transport.
Surprisingly, 97% people said the main hindrance in using metro service was non-availability of feeder service from the metro station.
While 81% commuters said no proximity to metro stations from their residence also stopped them from availing the service. The survey also revealed that only 4% people used buses to commute daily, while 47% travelled through their own conveyance.
Notably, deliberations for a city bus service in Gurgaon were being made from a long time. Though Delhi Metro has extended its reach up to Gurgaon, people are yet to make its optimum use as there are no feeder buses or an efficient transportation system to connect metro stations with the remaining city.

{{/usCountry}}The planning for an overhaul of the city bus service has been going on for a long time. As part of measures to improve public transport, Gurgaon Roadways had earlier announced that they would add 600 buses to its fleet of vehicles plying on various routes in the city. However, all these claims are yet to be fulfilled.
“We admit that there is no proper bus service and have to travel in auto-rickshaws. However, the new bus service will provide a comfortable journey to passengers,” said deputy commissioner PC Meena.
